'Bipasha and I split, because we're both headstrong'

Bipasha breaks with John,Top Break up of Bollywood
John Abraham and his bond with Bipasha Basu earned reams of newsprint during their eight year old relationship. And lassoed in some more media mileage after the liaison went kaput. Expressly with Basu baring her feelings over it and John maintaining a studied silence. Until now, that is.

Word has it that John has gone ahead and spilled the (split) beans in a telly chat show.

Describing Bipasha as a "strong, caring person" , John is reported to have said that their romantic link did not fructify into matrimony simply because they were both "very headstrong individuals." He's also reportedly gone on to have said that Bipasha, at heart, was "a very homely person", quite contrary to the image painted out by the scribe tribe.

Interestingly, John's parents were on the chat show too and while his dad maintained that he'd be happy to see John settle down with "a girl of his choice", the actor's mother said that he needed a "more homely and caring woman who would understand him," studiously avoiding any mention of Bipasha Basu.

States a close source, "John's mother did not mention Bipasha even once on the show. John went on to say that it wasn't easy to end an eight year relationship, because he still cared for Bipasha. He also said that although men may say that they believe in women's liberation, they are quite chauvinistic at heart. John felt that maintaining a 'no comments' stance was best, because he did not want to trivialise matters or get Bipasha into an embarrassing spot by speaking about their split relationship to the media."

John, as per "close sources" is enjoying his singleton status to the fullest and reportedly been spotted having coffee and dinner with a certain model named Priya.(

Sonam Kapoor: Style Diary

An all-accepted fact is; Sonam Kapoor is the numero uno style icon in the country.
The rest of the Bollywood actresses come and go endorsing freebies on the red carpet but Sonam Kapoor means serious business when it comes to fashion.
Whether its the red carpet or a casual out, Sonam only sets her most stylish foot forward. Lets take a look at the 26 year old's style diary that we wish to emulate.

Sonam Kapoor has always shown a very feminine lass. She admits on being a proper girlie girl, which means she loves frills, dresses, make-up and of course, pink! In this Vivienne Westwood polka dress, Sonam looks like every girl's dream. The dress makes her look young and vibrant and perfectly girlie, we might add.

We think every girl, or perhaps lady should sport this look. The crisp tailoring of the super-classy navy Burberry suit accentuates her svelte frame. Also, the details on the hem of her jacket brings in just the amount of edginess that she is known for.

Sonam is more than often seen in draped dresses which makes her look like a demi goddess. This look suits her best since it highlights her long and slender frame. Sonam realizes that experiment is the key to success in terms of fashion and she follows exactly that.

Even when Sonam decides to ditch her red carpet wear, she ensures she isn't caught out of style. Her street style, too, is as eclectic as her red carpet fashion. For all those whop think street style only means junk take another glance at how Sonam interprets it. Especially the Fendi suit in which she struts at the airport en route the Cannes Film Fest.

How can our fashionista forget the essential Indian wear. She is equally at ease in an elaborate saree like her western outfits. She rocks this Masaba Gupta creation with a perfect hairstyle and a bindi which blends in so effortlessly with her chiselled face.

Sonam has almost made the one-shouldered dress with a romantic hairdo her signature style statement apart from her drapes. However, Sonam does not wear these dresses like all the others do. In fact, she takes the mix 'n' match rule creating magic with it. For example, she teams up these high-end dresses with her inherited antique gold jewellery and, as a result, totally re-invents the mundane dress style.

When talking about Sonam's style diary it isn't possibly possible to not mention Sonam's super outing at Cannes. This young lady grabbed all eyeballs winning accolades back home for her dramatic outfit. It was her first time at Cannes but she rocked the look much better than her senior Aishwarya Rai who has been a Cannes regular for the past 10 years. (

Maqbool Fida Husain The Famous Artist Died Today

Maqbool Fida Husain, the artist who earned fame and controversy over his paintings, died in a London hospital early this morning. He was 95. Dubbed the 'Picasso of India', Husain's work is a blend of cubism and classical Indian styles that fetches millions of dollars on international art markets.

His depictions of naked Hindu goddesses enraged zealots who attacked his house, vandalised shows displaying his work and drove him to flee India. For years, galleries were too frightened of protests to display his work.

He first began by hand-painting Bollywood film posters and later joined the Bombay Progressive Artists' Group in the late 1940s after Indian independence from Britain. They tried to create a new art for a new country, combining Indian traditions with modern Western avant-garde styles.

Famous for walking barefoot and carrying a large paintbrush like a riding crop, Husain grew from a struggling commercial painter creating cinema hoardings in the late 1930s to one of India's leading artists. ( )

In 1967, his first film, "Through the Eyes of a Painter", won the Golden Bear award at the Berlin Film Festival. Four years later, he met the Spanish painter and sculptor Pablo Picasso at the Sao Paolo Art Biennial.

He was part of the Progressive Artists Group, a collective that broke tradition to create avant-garde art. He was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India's second highest civilian honour, in 1989 and nominated to the upper house of parliament in 1986.

By then, Husain was more famous for controversy after a series of paintings from the 1970s depicting revered goddesses in the nude were published in a Hindi-language magazine in 1996. Further controversy came in 2006 over Husain's "Bharatmata" or Mother India, depicting a nude woman posing across a map of the country with the names of various states on her body.
